A beautiful new home in a much-desired Southeast Shreveport neighborhood will go to one lucky person this year in the second annual House for Hope promotion.
The Home Builders Association of Northwest Louisiana, KSLA News 12 and Community Renewal are partnering once again to build community by building the second House for Hope.
The 2010 house is a custom French Country three-bedroom home at 607 Buckhead Circle in the Charleston Court section of the Twelve Oaks neighborhood. It will go to the winner of a raffle that will generate funds for Community Renewal to build a new Friendship House.
The drawing will be June 30.
“We want to help the community and foster good relations. We care about our community and this is a way to give back,” said Brian Smith, founder of Brian Builders, this year’s HBA president and general contractor on this project.
The House for Hope is a 2,142-square-foot home with three bedrooms, two bathrooms and many fine details and upgrades. Located in the circle of a quiet cul-de-sac, the house is designed for entertaining and outdoor living. The entry, living room and dining room all open to each other and feature beautiful hardwood flooring. The gas fireplace in the living room has granite and stone trim.
The open kitchen has state-of-the-art stainless steel appliances, granite countertops and a walk-in pantry. The combo office nook/mud room is convenient to the garage entry, has a built-in computer desk and is out of the line of sight of front-door guests. The French doors in the living room open out onto a spacious patio and large back yard.
The large master bedroom and bathroom feature his and hers walk-in closets, a furniture style double vanity, a separate vanity for her, an Air-Masseur tub and a separate tile shower. Two more bedrooms share the second bath on the front of the house. The two car garage is uniquely attached to the house offering striking curb appeal and more use of the front yard.
Proceeds from the event will go toward a new Friendship House in Shreveport’s Queensborough neighborhood, with construction expected to begin later this year. A Friendship House is like a community center in a home, reaching out to at-risk youth and families with after-school programs, community service projects and activities that build positive relationships among family members and neighbors. The proven impact of a Friendship House ranges from significant reductions in crime to major improvements in education.
“Bridges bring people together and the House for Hope is a bridge to a new Friendship House that will become a haven for broken children and broken families. We are very grateful that the Home Builders Association and KSLA are making this possible,” said Mack McCarter, founder and coordinator of Community Renewal.
The house will be featured in the 2010 Parade of Homes, the first two weekends in June, and the winner’s name will be drawn live on KSLA News 12 on June 30.
