Volunteers needed to build Community Renewal playground

Volunteers are needed to help build a KaBOOM! playground with Shreveport-Bossier Community Renewal on Thursday, Oct. 25. The playground will be built next to the KaBOOM logoQueensborough Friendship House.

Country music superstars Brooks & Dunn chose Community Renewal to receive the playground as part of the Academy of Country Music/The Home Depot Humanitarian Award they received this year. Brooks & Dunn will be at the site part of the day to help with the construction.

KaBOOM! is a national nonprofit which has constructed nearly 1,000 new playgrounds, skate parks, sports fields and ice rinks across North America.

Volunteers are asked to work 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. No experience is required. Contact Lynn Bryan at 425-3222 or lynnbryan@sbcr.us to volunteer or to get more information.

Shreveport-Bossier Community Renewal is a nonprofit effort to restore safe and healthy communities through caring relationships. Founded in 1994, SBCR reaches at-risk youth through Friendship Houses built in impoverished neighborhoods, strengthens education through the Adult Renewal Academy, partners with The Fuller Center for Housing and connects caring partners who turn their neighborhoods into safe havens of friendship and support.
